Institute for Sustainable Technologies - National Research Institute (ITeE-PIB)  is a state-owned research and development institution conducting basic and applied research as well as implementation in the field of advanced technologies related to machines manufacturing and maintenance, materials engineering, environmental protection and systems engineering.

The Institute’s scope of activity comprises the following:

• modelling of processes and structures of knowledge transformation and technology transfer into economy,
• scientific research in the area of: systems engineering, tribology, surface engineering, maintenance liquids, diagnostics, mechanics, bionics, metrology, computer science and vocational education,
• optimisation methods for production and maintenance processes,
• development of rationalization systems for the utilization of material and energy resources,
• methods and devices supporting quality systems in production and maintenance processes.

Moreover, the Institute is involved in expert activity in the area of economy innovativeness, experiment and manufacturing activity in the field of research devices and special technological devices, as well as printing and publishing activity addressing scientific subjects.

The Institute has its own infrastructure and research apparatus and technological devices that, in its leading fields of activity, i.e. tribology and surface engineering, match the world standards.

Thanks to the high level of technological solutions obtained in the Institute both the devices and advanced technologies can be exported to many countries, e.g.: to USA, Germany, Israel, Vietnam, China, Pakistan, Greece, Macedonia, Australia, Mexico, Russia, Belarus and Hungary.
