About the Department

The Design Department plays a significant role for the Prototype Department. Here the designs of construction and new products technologies are created that, in the next stage, are implemented in the Mechanical Prototype Unit.

Specialists from this unit conduct both scientific-research and typical service design works connected with the creation of special devices or equipment ordered by external customers. They have rich experience in the designing of devices, technological lines and also specialised production instruments, such as injection moulds, blanking dies, stamping dies or toolholders. The expertise and the experience of Institute’s design and production engineers is supported by modern devices, such as CAD, CAM or a programme for the development of TPP technology. The applied computer technologies enable to develop multi-variant constructions, the correct structure of which is verified by the applied simulations based on MES. Three-dimensional visualisation is carried out in the initial design phase and it enables to assess the created product, both with respect to its functionality, and its appearance.
